I am a freelance writer and researcher for the Southwest Initiative for the Study of Middle Eastern Conflicts. While I’m broadly interested in the politics of South Asia and the Greater Middle East, I specialize on issues of political economy in the “Khorasan”, or Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan. More specifically, I look at how various sub-national actors (NGOs, insurgencies, companies) attempt to establish parallel governance structures in ungoverned/weakly governed spaces.
